Safeguarding and working with young people
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone we work with, particularly children and young people.
Our work is grounded in the belief that:
- Every person deserves to feel safe, understood and supported.
- Emotional wellbeing is best supported through clarity, compassion and practical tools.
- Safety, trust and agency are central to meaningful change.
Working with young people (under 18)
We work with young people in a way that is age-appropriate, transparent and focused on wellbeing. Parental consent is required for all clients under 18.
Sessions are structured, time-bound and focused on helping young people:
- understand their nervous system;
- manage stress and exam anxiety; and
- develop simple, practical regulation tools.
Nature of my work
Our sessions are educational and supportive, focused on understanding the nervous system and emotional regulation.
Beth sometimes work with Havening Techniques, where:
- The young person remains fully in control at all times.
- Havening Touch is self-applied by the client.
- I do not provide therapy, diagnosis or crisis intervention.
Boundaries and scope
To ensure safety and clarity:
- Sessions are kept within appropriate, present-day challenges
- We do not explore deep trauma or complex psychological issues in this setting.
- Where additional support is needed, we will encourage and signpost to appropriate professionals.
Confidentiality and safeguarding
We respect the privacy of all clients.
However, if we have concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a young person, we have a responsibility to:
- Share this with a parent or guardian.
- Where appropriate, seek further support from relevant services
This is always done with care and in the best interests of the young person.
Environment and safety
Sessions take place in a professional setting designed to feel calm and supportive.
When working with young people:
- Parents are asked to remain on-site or in the immediate vicinity (particularly for under 16s).
- Sessions are conducted in a way that is open, appropriate and accountable.
